Milk collection centres are normally placed in rural areas where farmers transport their raw milk after each milking time to be cooled in a bulk tank. The road tanker of the creamery then collects the milk from this centre. Packo has equipped many of these centres, worldwide, often under difficult climatic conditions.
A milk collection centre is usually equipped with a small milk intake vessel, a milk pump and a milk cooling tank. Other items could be e.g. a weighing scale or a milk metering device, a cleaning facility for milk churns and laboratory equipment for testing the milk quality.
The Packo OM/IB open milk cooling tank with ice bank system and instant cooling is ideally suited for this application. Today following capacities are available: 1000 – 1600 and 2500 litres. Each installed cooling system is capable of cooling the full capacity collected in one collection period, so called “One Milking” tank.
